Celebrated African music icon D’banj turns a
year older today . The decorated musician has
come a long way in the industry from his
period at Mo’Hits to owning his one music
label DB records.
In the spirit of Throwback Thursday trend ,
here are five of the pop star’s classic songs
from his time with Mo’Hits.

Tongolo » – This was D’banj’s first hit single
under Mo’Hits yet the song and its
accompanying visuals feel like it was done
yesterday. This song birthed the popular slang
he is known for – ‘Koko’ which gave him the
alias ‘Kokomaster’ and went ahead to
commercialise the word from koko mobile to
koko garri, etc

Mobil owl won » – This was another
runaway hit track which resonated well with
fans. From the relatable lyrics to the catchy
sounds, it was a classic.

Why me » – Both young and old loved this
tune because of its catchy chorus and one-of-
a-kind video among other reasons. It was
generally a feel good song.

Igwe » – This was a party favourite anthem
loved by not only the easterners where the
song was inspired from but every other
region of Nigeria and beyond.

Gbono » – 'Gbono feli feli' was an anthem
with a catchy phrase and top notch
production from Don Jazzy seeing the singer
take pride in his capabilities as an
entertainer.

But I love emergency most
