President spokesperson sa
ys the national Assembly leadership will no longer meet with the president which he hives reason for the eventual cancellation..
According to Garba Shehu, the president’s
senior special assistant on media and
publicity, the president is not willing to
meet with the leadership of the Nigerian
Senate as well as other leaders of the
National Assembly to break the Ramadan
fast with them.
Speaking with Sahara Reporters, Shehu
noted that there’s no way the president
will still meet with the National Assembly
leaders before the end of the Ramadan
fast which is likely to end on Monday or
Tuesday, June 5 (which has been
announced as Public Holiday already).
Different groups and leaders have been
hosted by the president since his return
to the country from London where he
went to treat an ear infection but the
National Assembly has been omitted.
About two weeks ago, President Buhari
was scheduled to host the leaders of both
chambers of NASS to Iftar, but the
meeting was canceled a few hours with
the Nigerian leader stating that he was
bombarded with schedules.
He said: “You will recall that the
President spent most of the days in the
Ramadan month outside the country.
“By the time he returned, a schedule had
already been made for him on those he
would be receiving daily.
