PDP suffers loss as 2 Rep players signs new contract with APC

The opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples
Democratic Party, further suffered
another loss this week as two members of
the House of Representatives joined the
ruling party,
All Progressive Congress.
The move, which elicited jubilations from the
APC members in the House of Reps, occured
on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
The lawmakers, who defected were Tony
Nwoye, from Anambra-East / West Federal
Constituency of Anambra State, and
Emmanuel Udende from Katsina-Ala Federal
Constituency of Benue State.
It was further reported that Nwoye, an ex-
chairman of the Anambra State chapter of the
PDP, and Udende ascribed their defection to
the obvious crisis bedeviling the PDP.
Nwoye and Udende further upped the
numerical strength of the APC in the House
of Reps to 215, while the PDP dropped to 138.
Punch reported that the defection of Nwoye
and Udende didn't meet total approval from
PDP lawmakers as the Minority Leader of the
House, Mr. Leo Ogor, representing Delta
State, led a protest to halt the defection but
failed.
